A festival of music, dancing, and celebration is taking place in Ferryland throughout the weekend.
The Shamrock Festival kicks off today on the deck of the Southern Shore Folk Arts Council building with performances by local talent.
A dance will be held tonight inside the building to celebrate the culture of The Irish Loop, with the main event happening on Sunday.
Chris Curren, a board member with the Southern Shore Folk Arts council, says it’s the people that set the Southern Shore apart.
He says the musicians, the singers, and the poets make the Southern Shore a perfect place for a festival like this.
