A fire ban remains in effect for the Metro region.
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department says that with current conditions and the upcoming forecast, there is a high fire risk due to a lack of heavy rain in contrast to the dry heat over the last two weeks.
The ban covers backyard fire pits, chimineas, charcoal barbeques, and open fires.
The fire department is also asking people to be cautious when using propane firepits and barbeques.
