Government has begun airlifting essential goods to the Coast of Bays region cut off from the rest of the province because of the forest fires and the closure of the only road access.
Two helicopters began flying in food and other supplies yesterday and more flights are scheduled for today.
The Sound of Islay, which departed Lewisporte for Fortune on Sunday, has been delayed by mechanical difficulties and is in St. John’s for repairs.
