Team NL swimmers have claimed a record-breaking number of medals for the province during the first half of the Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ont.
Between them, Chris Weeks, Thomas Pelley and Nate Luscombe have won five silver, two bronze and one gold medal at the games.
Weeks captured the province’s first gold medal of the games, and now has a total of three medals.
Pelley won three medals in several Special Olympics swimming events, while Luscombe won two medals in para-swimming.
Team NL Chef de Mission Gary Martin says it’s been an amazing week for swimmers from this province.
This year’s medal count to date tops Team NL swimming’s last games experience in 2013, when the province won its last silver medal.
