Marine Atlantic has been forced to cancel today’s and Saturdays crossings between Argentia and North Sydney, Nova Scotia.

The corporation says the schedule disruption is due to a mechanical issue with one of the engines on the ferry Highlanders.

Marine Atlantic says the cancellations will result in more traffic being diverted to the shorter Port aux Basques run, though it would increase driving time across the province.

They say maintenance crews have found the problem and are working to fix it as quickly as possible.

Affected customers will be re-booked on the next available Argentia sailing.

However, those who want to re-book on the Port aux Basques run are asked to contact Marine Atlantic’s reservations department at 1-800-341-7981, or email tourcommercial@marineatlantic.ca.
