The provincial government has decided not to change the name of Colonial Building.
Government recently sought public input on potentially changing the name of the building, which is where the legislature sat from 1850 to 1959.
The public engagement process on whether the name should be changed was conducted through the engageNL platform.
Government says 69 per cent of respondents on that survey preferred that Colonial Building retain its current name. Twenty-six per cent wanted to see a name change, with 40 per cent of those people preferring the name Parliament House.
The province plans on having the story of Indigenous governance told accurately and represented at the site, and they will hold Indigenous consultations on that front.
