A health care job fair was held in the capital city this past week focused on bringing newcomers to the industry.
The fair, hosted by Task Force NL and Bishops Gardens, aims to get newcomers to the province with a background in health care back into the industry to help alleviate the significant labour shortage.
Ukrainian General Practitioner, Atris Mahmoud who attended the fair, is currently looking to become a surgeon, but says it feels a bit far off.
He says he is looking to become a permanent resident so he can stay and practice as a surgeon in the province. He says it’s always been his dream.
