Parts of the island are coming out of one of the warmest and driest summers on record but if the forecast from the Farmers’ Almanac is anywhere near accurate, we could be paying for it come the winter.
The metro region hasn’t really gotten a winter wallop since Snowmageddon which struck a few weeks before the pandemic.
Jack Burnett, a spokesperson for the Almanac, expects milder temperatures than usual this winter but with a lot of snow. The heaviest snow periods will be at the end of November, in the middle of January, and at the beginning and middle of February.
Shoveling down further, the Almanac expects to see some significant storms late in winter and early in spring.
The ones which come at the end of winter tend to be heavier because of the milder air coming up from the ocean.
