A Muskrat Falls Monitoring and Health Management Oversight Committee has been established—a recommendation of the Independent Expert Advisory Committee on methylmercury as a result of the hydro development.
The committee is made up of a combination of scientific and traditional knowledge experts.
They include Independent Chair Dr. Raymond Copes, Peter Penashue of the Innu Nation, Jim Goudie with the Nunatsiavut Government, and George Russell with the NunatuKavut Community Council.
The committee also includes representatives from NL Hydro, Health Canada, the provincial government and affected communities including Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Northwest River, Mud Lake, Sheshatshiu, Rigolet and Cartwright.
