They will both remain in custody until their next appearances in two weeks’ time.
Haynes was already facing several assault charges and breaches of previous court orders. Hurley also has previous charges and convictions on his record, including the armed robbery of a Mount Pearl pharmacy in 2017.
A man in his 30s was sent to hospital with serious stab wounds after two men forced their way into his Beaumont Street home Monday evening and stole his car. A short time later a home on Maunder’s Lane was forcibly entered and two seniors inside were injured.
Surveillance and dash cam footage started to pour in to RNC headquarters when news of the random attacks started to circulate.
RNC Constable James Cadigan thanked the officers involved in the investigation, noting that the RNC “could not be more proud” of their “tireless service to our community.”
Cadigan thanked the public, saying they’re “overwhelmed with gratitude” for the support.
“Sincerely, thank you for sending a strong message that this activity has no place in our communities.”
