RCMP have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with a frightening assault in Stephenville on the weekend.

Bay St. George RCMP received a report of a man, who was armed with a knife, attempting to break out the windows of a home in Stephenville. When police arrived they located the suspect, who had allegedly assaulted an occupant inside the home, on the property.

The victim received minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

Jerome Skinner was arrested without further incident and remanded to custody pending his next court appearance on October 6 on charges of assault with a weapon, break and enter and failure to comply with a release order.

The investigation continues.
