The MHA for Burgeo-LaPoile has been visiting communities along the southwest coast to see the damage caused.
Andrew Parsons says some communities are harder hit than others in terms of damage to homes, but in all communities, the coastal infrastructure is gone.
He says stages, sheds and wharves are all gone. Burnt Islands has taken the brunt says Parsons, while in Ilse aux Morts no families have been displaced.
The clean-up has begun in Rose Blanche-Harbour le Cou where the harbour is filled with debris from broken sheds and stages. Town clerk Tammy Farrell says they’re working on cleaning out the harbour.
She says they have a rope across the harbour to prevent the debris from washing out, and equipment is en route to try to get it out of the water.
