The provincial government has signed a Declaration of Intent with the City of Hamburg, Germany, signaling cooperation in the field of green hydrogen and hydrogen technologies.
Minister of Tourism, Steve Crocker signed the declaration on behalf of Premier Andrew Furey, who is in the province to address the devastation caused by Hurricane Fiona.
The Declaration of Intent, signed at Hamburg City Hall on the first day of the International WindEnergy Hamburg Conference, is intended to encourage the development of hydrogen supply chains for the export of green hydrogen from Newfoundland to Germany.
The province lifted its moratorium on commercial wind energy developments, resulting in a number of companies coming forward with proposals for wind energy and hydrogen developments on the southwest coast.
