A number of events and sessions regarding seniors are taking place this week.
There will be a flag-raising at St. John’s City Hall this morning to mark the beginning of Seniors’ Week.
Events will be going ahead throughout the week to engage senior citizens in group activities following the two years of pandemic restrictions.
Mayor Danny Breen will be raising the flag at 10 a.m. and will sign a proclamation at today’s council meeting.
Meanwhile, the province’s Seniors’ Advocate, Susan Walsh, is conducting an engagement process with seniors, their families and care providers.
Walsh is looking to hear the concerns facing seniors in order for the Office of the Seniors’ Advocate to develop actions and strategies for the future.
Engagement sessions are being conducted in-person and online. A list of dates for in-person sessions, as well as a link to the virtual engagement, can be found online.
