An adjudication panel of the Law Society has resulted in the disbarment of a local lawyer accused of misconduct.
Andrew J. Martin of Mount Pearl firm Morris Martin Moore has been struck from the Roll of Barristers, and all his rights and privileges as a member of the Law Society are no more.
Martin was found deserving of sanction for a number of incidents described by the Law Society as a “web of deceit” that occurred in 2021 and 2022.
They include failure to carry on the practice of law “honourably and with integrity,” failure to perform all legal services on behalf of his client “to the standard of a competent lawyer,” failure to be honest and candid with his client, and failure to inform his client of discovered errors and/or omissions among other breaches of conduct.
Andrew J. Martin has been disbarred and must pay costs to the Law Society in the amount of $4,850
