The St. John’s Regional Fire Department is encouraging people to plan their escape should the unthinkable happen.
October 9 to October 15 is Fire Prevention Week and Captain Gary Power says planning ahead is key should fire break out in your home.
He says everyone should have an escape plan with exits identified and a meeting place for family members—and make sure you share it with everyone in the household. It’s also important to have working smoke alarms in your home.
There will not be a parade this year but there are numerous events including information displays.
