The City of St. John’s does not intend to implement a nuisance lighting bylaw.
For some time now Outer Battery area residents have been complaining about bright lights set up in the area that many say are affecting their quality of life.
Mayor Danny Breen offered a statement this morning, saying the city will not be implementing a bylaw, as they do not believe it is in the best interest for the city as a whole at this time.
He says there’s also a misconception about section 377 of the city’s existing bylaws.
Council has not instructed staff to get involved and do not believe the bylaw is applicable or appropriate to the situation in the Outer Battery. They are not convinced a nuisance lighting bylaw is needed at this time.
