Alex Newhook of St. John’s looked like he was shot out of a cannon last night as he sped down the right wing and zipped one past the Washington netminder for what turned out to be the winning goal.
The Colorado winger, who was named the third star of the game, scored his 11th of the year prompting accolades from the broadcast booth.
That was his fourth goal in his last six games.
They clocked him at 23 mph. The Avalanche defeated the Capitals 3 to 2.
