The former president of the PC Party is going for the party’s top job.
Eugene Manning announced last night in St. John’s that he will be running for the leadership.
In an address to hundreds of supporters, Manning said the current Liberal government does not have a plan to address issues such as health care and cost of living.
Manning begins by outlining a number of concerns (health care, crown lands, etc…) and says the people of Newfoundland and Labrador deserve better.
He says the current government has no plans for the future.

When asked what his plan was, Manning said that’s his goal for the next eight months
He says he wants to tour the province and get input from residents in order to craft a plan. He hopes to have more details in the coming weeks and months.
While stepping down as party president in 2021, Manning hinted at a run in a provincial race. He says now was the right time to follow through. He says personally it was the right time for him.
A new leader for the party will be elected in October. MHAs Tony Wakeham and Lloyd Parrott are also on the leadership bill.
