Online applications are now open for the 2023-24 big game licence draw with fewer moose licences available this coming season.
The moose quota for the next season in Newfoundland is 27,575, including 15,857 either sex, 7,328 male only, 3,930 non-resident licences and 460 not-for-profit licences.
That’s an overall drop of 90 licences compared to this past season, with reduced quotas in 14 Moose Management Areas, and increases in 11 others.
In Labrador, the overall quota of moose licences available is 340, with five fewer licences available in Moose Management area 52.
The caribou quota on the island remains at 575 licences, with no caribou licences available in Labrador during the ongoing moratorium.
Online applications will be available until April 28.
