Federal Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced last week that Ottawa will overhaul the Airline Passenger Bill of Rights in response to claims that the system is fundamentally flawed.
Woodrow French of CBS who pushed for an Airline Passenger Bill of Rights agrees, but says passengers themselves need to be part of any consultation process.
French commends the minister for wanting to bring in changes, but says while Alghabra mentioned consulting with the airline, there was no mention of public consultations. French says “I certainly would have been available if he wanted to contact anybody.”
French believes “the airline lobby is alive and well in Ottawa.”
