The provincial government hopes their plan to spend $1.4-billion on road and highway infrastructure over a five year period will transform transportation infrastructure in the province.
Premier Andrew Furey’s hope is that in five years time the province’s roads and highways are more sustainable and that there is a greater focus on the effects of climate change as it relates to things like culverts and bridges.
He notes that during his time in office they have seen such effects on the southwest coast twice.
Furey also indicates that connectivity across the province will be focus.
He would like to see an “aggressive” plan to connect all communities.
