NAPE says a replacement for HMP “cannot come fast enough.”
The provincial government has set aside $7.3 million dollars to “advance work” on replacing the aging facility.
NAPE President Jerry Earle says they want to know what that means exactly.
“We are not letting it go away,” says Earle who wants to see a timeline for work on the facility. “These corrections officers need to know when they can expect to get out of a place that can’t even provide proper heat right now.”
