The new wage grid for early childhood educators was finally announced this week, but plenty of questions remain.

Licenced childcare operators indicate they were “blindsided” by the details and were hoping to be notified before the official announcement came down.

Gail Sullivan with NL Childcare Licensees Inc. says while they’re pleased with the increases for workers, she believes the wage grid was “hastily put together.”

She says while the operators were consulted, “to a degree” they felt they should have been informed beforehand on details of the wage grid. “We really have a lot of questions.”
