The capital city is starting construction work in the next week or so on replacement of the aging culvert at Virginia River near the intersection of Glenyere Street and Torbay Road in the east end.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 10 and is expected to be completed by September.
The project includes the replacement of the existing culvert, with greater flood-proofing measures in the area of Virginia River.
Access to area businesses will be maintained at the Torbay Road intersection, but Gleneyere Street will be closed to traffic coming from Torbay Road, with a detour in place while the work is being carried out.
Traffic will be detoured to Highland Drive, Dunlea Street and Birchwynd Street.
Sidewalks and trails will continue to be accessible.
