Changes are being made at the Gathering Place to reduce, and eventually eliminate, lineups outside the emergency shelter.
Returning guests go through the main entrance but those seeking emergency shelter would have to line up outside. That would sometimes lead to people using the bus shelter, which is near the emergency shelter entrance, for overnight lodging. However, the Gathering Place has since changed their procedures to reduce that outside lineup to a small handful of people.
Paul Davis, the Executive Director, says additional changes are coming regarding improved access to the emergency shelter.
It will be accessed from the Gathering Place courtyard which will take people away from where the bus enclosure used to be.
The bus shelter was removed about a week ago after being struck by a vehicle in stormy conditions.
