One of the best-selling artists of the 1970s-80s is making a stop in the capital city tomorrow evening.

Chris de Burgh, known for his hits ‘Lady in Red’, ‘ Don’t Pay the Ferryman’, and ‘Spanish Train’, will begin his cross-country tour with a show at Mary Brown’s Centre.

de Burgh has sold 45 million records over the last 40 years and has performed in this province on numerous occasions.

He says he enjoys visiting Signal Hill, walking the trails at Flatrock and getting a glimpse of icebergs, and enjoying a pint on George Street. “I used to wander down from the hotel at the end of the street and if there was a bit of a session going, there’d be a guy with a guitar and I’d get up and sing a few songs and have a few drinks with the locals,” says de Burgh. “It’s a very charming, friendly place. I like St. John’s a lot.”
