Construction and development of a number of schools throughout the province is expected to begin this year.
Shovels are soon expected to be in the ground on an expansion of Dorset Collegiate in Pilley’s Island to allow the school to expand to accommodate grades kindergarten to 12.
Design and development of the site for a new K-12 school and sports field in Cartwright will continue in 2023.
As well, planning continues for new schools in Portugal Cove-St. Philips and Kenmount Terrace, though sites have not been selected yet.
More than $127 million was earmarked towards school infrastructure upgrades in budget 2023.
Government expects to have construction complete on all facilities by 2027.
