The minister responsible for Women and Gender Equality says there is always ways to advanced the portfolio, but the provincial budget does a good job of addressing gender-based violence.
Minister Pam Parsons was responding to comments by Opposition critic Helen Conway Ottenheimer, suggesting the budget did not go far enough to address gender-based violence.
Parsons highlights $3.3 million set to combat gender-based violence, as well as an increase for community based initiatives funding. However, she says the work doesn’t stop there.
She says they always need to ask for more and advance the portfolio, adding that it’s community groups and colleagues in government and the opposition that help drive change.
