The former longtime leader of the province’s Community Sector Council got a shout-out in the House of Assembly this week.
Penny Rowe retired from the position earlier this year after more than 40 years at the helm.
MHAs paid tribute to Rowe for her “outstanding contributions” to the organization as a founding member and CEO.
In 2021, Rowe received the Frank McKenna Award for outstanding leadership from the Public Policy Forum of Canada.
She has also been featured as one of Canada’s 50 Most Influential Women, and named one of the Atlantic region’s Top 50 CEOs by Atlantic Business Magazine.
Rowe was also named to the Order of Canada in 2002.
Colin Corcoran, the former mayor of Riverhead, St. Mary’s Bay, was chosen to fill Rowe’s big shoes at the Community Sector Council.
