RCMP are warning about the dangers of venturing out onto pack ice along the coast after receiving reports of two young people riding their bikes on the pack ice near open water in Baie Verte.
Police received the calls earlier this week and say the kids were located safe and sound.
RCMP say although drift or pack ice may appear to be solid and stable, it is extremely dangerous.
They’re asking people not to approach, stand on, or make contact with ice in or near the water as warmer weather and ocean conditions can make the ice extremely unstable, leading to potentially life-threatening situations.
