FFAW President Greg Pretty says he’s very disappointed with government’s response to ongoing concerns over the low price set for crab this season.
A rally is planned at Confederation Building on Monday morning to impress on government what the economic impact will be if the crab fishery doesn’t go ahead this year.
Pretty says he was disappointed that after a series of meetings with various elected officials, all government could say was that they were following the situation and hoping that market conditions improve.
That, he says, is equivalent to saying “thoughts and prayers” to the union and “that just doesn’t cut it.”
Monday’s protest is set for 11:00 a.m. on the front steps of Confederation Building.
