The Schizophrenia Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is once again offering its annual Family Recovery Journey Program for families with a loved one living with schizophrenia.
Executive Director Susan Hyde says the program offers help and direction for people to build a better relationship with someone living with schizophrenia or psychosis.
She says many family members benefit from simple advice and tips about communicating with someone with schizophrenia.
She says one simple tip for families include avoiding eye contact while communicating with someone with schizophrenia. Things like talking while out on a walk side-by-side or a drive in a car ride side-by-side can make a huge difference in improving communication.
Their spring/summer sessions begin May 16 and run through to June 13.
The sessions are available via Zoom so that they can reach all parts of the province.
