A local company is looking to curb the amount of food waste through monitoring portion sizes.
Government recently announced $180,000 in project funding through the Multi Material Stewardship Board.
InVerte received over $10,000 for the development of a pilot project aimed at reducing waste through a smart portion control system.
Founder and CEO Johan Mendez says the technology will help prevent over-serving people, thus reducing the amount of food waste.
He says it uses a smart scale that tracks the weight of food containers used in restaurants, thus allowing the companies to track portion control.
