The MHA for Fortune Bay-Cape La Hune is applauding the efforts of a wide range of firefighters and first responders for the quick actions taken when a grass fire threatened the town of Harbour Breton over the weekend.

Residents were evacuated when a fire broke out in a wooded area on the north side of the town.

The blaze came within 30 feet of some homes before it was knocked down.

Elvis Loveless commended the actions of those who helped to safely remove residents whose homes were threatened by the blaze and for knocking the fire down.
