The Nunatsiavut Government has launched a new program to help teach Inuttitut to adult learners, high school and junior high students.
Minister of Language, Culture and Tourism with the Nunatsiavut Government, Roxanne Barbour, says fewer people in Nunatsiavut speak Inuttitut.

She says many speakers are in the senior population, which is why her department is making efforts to revitalize, reclaim, promote and advance Labrador Inuttitut.
Barbour says she can speak Inuttitut, but she struggles putting her sentences together. Brenda Jararuse, Director of Culture in the Nunatsiavut Government’s Department of Tourism, says her experience is similar.
“Definitely not fluent,” she says, “but working to get there.”
