Suncor has delayed production at Terra Nova, but government assures there is still lots of activity going on.

The company made the announcement during their first quarter 2023 results.

They say they have identified “additional maintenance and commissioning activities” that are needed to ensure the safety and reliability of the platform before returning to production. That work is already underway.

Finance Minister Siobhan Coady says there will be very little impact financially to the province because the work was not expected to begin until later in the year anyway.

She says there are over 740 people employed by the project.
