Multiple RNC units descended on the Shea Heights area of St. John’s today searching for a stolen van, and a man with a long criminal history.
Police arrested 38-year-old Gary Hennessey around 2 p.m. this afternoon on Learning Avenue.

That followed a roughly two-hour search for the man, who they believe was behind the wheel of the stolen white Dodge Caravan.
Hennessey has a lengthy criminal history and was already facing dozens of serious charges before the courts.
RNC units were stationed at various intersections throughout Shea Heights during the incident, keeping an eye out for Hennessey and the stolen van, which sustained minor front-end damage during the incident.
Hennessey was expected back in provincial court on Sunday morning.
