A 19-year-old woman from Ontario has been arrested and charged with child abduction following an unusual incident in Appleton late last week.
Gander RCMP were called to Appleton around 8:30 last Friday night following reports of a child being abducted from a home and being taken into a wooded area.

Police Service Dog Kane and his handler tracked the pair to a residential property where the accused and the child were found hiding behind a structure.
The child was uninjured. Police say the incident was not a random act, and police have no information to suggest or support organized crime involvement.
Desiree McGill was charged with abduction of a child under the age of fourteen. She was released on a number of conditions including staying away from schools and playgrounds and not to be in the presence of any person under the age of 16. She’s scheduled to appear in court in Gander on September 12.
