The City of St. John’s has a new traffic calming policy. The updated policy includes a petition from people who live on a street, data collection on site, and installation of trial temporary measures.

Streets that have already gone through trial measures and will see permanent installation of speed cushions this year are: University Avenue, Ennis Avenue, Quidi Vidi Road, Craigmillar Avenue and Southside Road.

Streets earmarked for the trial process this year are: Baird Place between Vinnicombe and Wicklow, Frecker Drive between between Cowan and Hamlyn, Stavangar Drive between Snow’s Lane and Shortall St., Empire Ave. between Blackmarsh Rd and Jensen Camp, and Rotary Drive.

The city uses speed cushions to influence driver behaviour.
