A local adventurer is looking to become the first person to complete a unique and challenging trek across northeast Canada.
Justin Barbour says it has never been attempted before. Over the course of one year he will be travelling about 3,800 km from Hudson Bay in the northern regions of Quebec, down through Labrador, before finally making it to the island and down the south coast.
Barbour will be canoeing, snowshoeing, backpacking, and rafting his way throughout the four seasons.
Before he starts the journey in July, Barbour is going on a speaking tour across the province to discuss the journey, his preparations for it, and other stories from past adventures.
Barbour’s reasoning for wanting to go on the trip is simple: A love of the outdoors. He says he is looking forward to the physical challenge as well even though it will be “grueling.”
