Police are increasing their presence in communities across the province this long weekend, but not all traffic stops are meant to be disciplinary.
Officers in Ferryland and Holyrood are launching their Summer Safety Program, which rewards youth for abiding by all safety protocols when partaking in summer activities.
Checkpoints will be stationed on ATV trails, where police will hand out safety pamphlets and give young people the chance to talk about staying safe while still having fun.
Anyone found to be staying safe while on the trails, riding their bike, swimming, or boating will be issued a safety citation that can be redeemed for a prize at a local business.
