A couple from this province has been on the road for the past couple months on a “trip of a lifetime” through the Americas.
Peter and Sonia Parker, along with their newborn daughter and dog, left their home in Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove with a goal of travelling through the western world.

Parker says it was his wife’s dream and they were determined to make it happen, even after Sonia became pregnant with their first child in the midst of planning.
He says they have no prior experience in long haul RV travel so they’re constantly learning along the way, with the couple focused on enjoying the journey rather than the destination.

He says they’ve met some interesting people along the way, including one woman in Florida who keeps grizzly bears as pets. Despite the interesting faces and places they’ve seen, Parker says it doesn’t compare to Newfoundland and Labrador.
The family is currently headed for the Canadian Rockies in hopes of arriving to their final destination in Argentina in the coming months.
