A Go Fund Me account has been created to help a local civic leader on her long road to recovery.

Mount Pearl Deputy Mayor Nicole Kieley was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash just over a week ago.

Kieley was hospitalized after she was struck by a vehicle which crashed through the front of Shoppers Drug Mart on Lemarchant Road on the afternoon of Sunday, May 21.

Friend Karla Hayward says the Go Fund Me account was created to help Nicole “focus entirely on healing.”

Meanwhile, Mount Pearl-Southlands MHA Paul Lane told VOCM Open Line with Tim Powers his thoughts are with Kieley and her family at a very difficult time.

Lane, whose daughter served with Kieley on council, says he knows the people of Mount Pearl are rallying behind her.
