A 47-year-old woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash on the highway near Stoneville, in central Newfoundland.

RCMP say a passerby noticed the crash around 8:30 last night and called police.

The driver, who was the lone occupant, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. She died at the scene.

The investigation continues.
