Brookfield Road will not longer exist as we know it when construction begins on the final phase of the Team Gushue Highway this time next year. Brookfield will be realigned to form one of three roundabouts with the Gushue. The other two roundabouts will be at Commonwealth Avenue and Pitts Memorial Highway.

By connecting with the Robert E. Howlett in the Goulds, residents of the southern Avalon will have easier and quicker access to Mount Pearl and St. John’s.

MP Seamus O’Regan says the project benefits the entire region.

He says it strengthens everything from Pouch Cove to Trepassey and from Petty Harbour to Carbonear. Making one part of that network better makes the whole network better, he said.

St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen says the capital will agree to do the maintenance if Mount Pearl also agrees to do the same.
