Day two of the Janeway telethon goes ahead this afternoon.
The annual telethon kicked off last night, so far raising $468,465 in support of the province’s only pediatric hospital.
This year’s fundraising goal is set at $2.5 million, which will go towards new equipment that will hopefully reduce diagnostic wait times and surgical backlog.
Donations can be made by calling in during the telethon from noon until 7:00 p.m., texting ‘JANEWAY’ to 45678, or online at janewayfoundation.nf.ca
Meanwhile, the annual Teddy Bear Convoy in aid of the Janeway Children’s Hospital will hit the road this morning.
Upwards of 100 trucks will make their way from Outer Ring Road towards Prince Philip Drive where children currently hospitalized at the Janeway can look out the window and watch the teddy bears drive by.
The convoy leaves the parking lot of Akita Equipment at 11:00 a.m. Traffic delays can be expected due to the number of participants.
The event has raised over $60,000 for the Janeway over the years.
