The mayor of Stephenville says all terms have been met and the sale of the town’s airport could be official any day now.
Tom Rose says all prior debt has been cleared and the transfer of ownership to businessman Carl Dymond is now in the hands of lawyers.
He says the purchase price of the facility was just over $6, with the catch being Dymond’s responsibility for clearing the airport’s extensive debt and chipping in a million dollars to complete upgrades to the lighting system.
He says the airport has been a troubled facility for years, racking up debt and relying on up to $400,000 in annual funding from the town just to keep the lights on while providing zero benefit to taxpayers. Rose is optimistic that will change once Dymond officially takes ownership.
