BP Canada says it’s abandoning work at its Ephesus well in Newfoundland’s offshore.
But the province’s energy minister is choosing to focus on the positives in the industry.
AllNewfoundlandLabrador first reported the news earlier this week, which has since been confirmed in documents on the C-NLOPB’s website.
Minister Andrew Parsons says he doesn’t want to get “too high or too low” over the move.
“Anyone who goes into exploration and thinks they’re not gonna go one way or the other … it’s a pretty high risk thing at the best of times even with all the research done, ” he said. “If I got upset with this every time we got some negative news, I’d be upset a lot.
“But I just tend to think there’s going to be more ups coming than downs. I’ve still got some optimism here. This is just one step along the way. I got a feeling there’s going to be more good news coming at some point.”
