Police have charged a man with manslaughter in connection with a homicide in St. John’s last year.
27-year-old Brandon Tobin also faces a charge of failing to comply with a court order.
The victim, an 82-year-old woman, was pronounced dead by paramedics upon their arrival at a home on Mitchell Court just before midnight on March 16 of last year.
Police initially called the death suspicious but days later received confirmation from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that it was a homicide.
Tobin is already serving a federal sentence at the Springhill institution in Nova Scotia for previous convictions involving drugs and guns.
He’s expected to appear in provincial court in St. John’s, likely by video, at a later date.
